doc: Displays STILTS documentation in a web browser
doc displays STILTS documentation in a web browser.
It starts a web server serving this user document
and attempts to instruct the default web browser
to open a page pointing at it,
then continues running so that following internal links on the web page
will work.
If the doc command has already been run elsewhere and
is currently serving documentation for this version of STILTS,
the browser is pointed at that server instead and the command
exits immediately.
You can optionally supply as an argument the name of the section you want to look at; this may be the name of a command, filter, plot layer type or some other things.
Note that there are other options for investigating the STILTS documentation: the command-line help system can report command and parameter usage at the terminal, and documentation for the most recent public release should also be available from the STILTS web page at http://www.starlink.ac.uk/stilts/sun256/.
